Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in Emergency Care Research

Patient and Public Involvement in research means research that is done, with or by the public, not to, about or for them. (It is also known as Public Involvement, Patient and Public Voice or Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement). This is when patients or other people with relevant experience contribute to how health research is designed, conducted, and disseminated.

In 2010 Government guidelines stated that all health–based research should include PPI.
